In relationship to myself I found many similarities to the choices and behaviors that I display. I do have a preference to plan things in advance with a dislike for last minute changes. One of my strengths is that of an organizer. I do disagree with the assessment that I limit myself with new things, as I always challenge myself on multiple fronts as I enjoy and mastered many things that I have involved myself such as cooking, DIY, and many things others will shy from. I always compete against myself to be the best I can be and compete very much against myself always asking questions about myself.

I see a reflection of myself when analyzing the character Lena Tiddle, from Delirium by Lauren Oliver. Although Lena lives in a dystopian society while I do not, we run parallel with many traits that we each inhabit, socially and mentally. First of all, mentally we are both slightly fearful. While the mental fear that I hold is not as extreme as the fear Lena holds, it is a trait that bonds the two of us. Lena’s mental fearfulness is exemplified through her need to constantly feel protected and shielded from things outside of her comfort zone.…

As I started this journey into the world of people watching I was immediately drawn to people who appeared to have similar traits as myself. As an observer, I would be remiss if I did not attribute this mostly to social comparison. Having grown up with several situations that shattered my confidence in social relationships at the most pivotal stages in child development I look for people I can compare myself to. I find people that share similar personality traits or characteristics that way I do not feel any negative emotions when I compare myself to an extremely extroverted person.…

In Richard Register’s chapter called “Ecocities: Rebuilding cities in balance with nature” he argues that the city is like a human body. He defines the different parts of the body, down to its organs, in comparison with the systems of a city. He goes from the skeletal system, to the heart, to the muscular system, to the digestive system, to the internal organs, and also the outer features of the body like the nose and ears. Looking at the human body as it corresponds to a city helps us to understand it. I agree with Register’s analogy of the human body compared to the works and buildup of a city.…
