Transgender issues in softball have become increasingly more aware in society, which brings up issues on the rules and regulations pertaining to the game. A transgender person should only be allowed to hit the ball size of their sex designated at birth unless they adhere to the rules and regulations pertaining to the league of choice. My most significant leadership experience would be when I was in the Girls Varsity Tennis Team. I had been in the tennis team during my highschool years, for 2 years. During that time I learned a lot about being a leader, such as what it means to lead others, and what qualities a leader should have. When I first started playing tennis I started at the position on 2nd doubles, to me I took it as that I was not good enough to play against an opponent by myself on the court. Which was entirely true, because when I began playing I was not any good whatsoever.…

I found this story very fascinating because Chief Justice John Roberts used a near identical example to explain the role of judges during his confirmation hearing in 2005. Roberts explained, “Our job is to call balls and strikes and not to pitch or bat… Judges are like umpires. Umpires don’t make the rules, they apply them.” In this story, there is a debate as to whether the umpire ought to apply the rules as they are written, or if they should apply them in the way that they feel is correct. Specifically, it uses an example of the umpires changing a rule regarding the strike zone and the majority of baseball fans agree with the result.…

Throughout the entire BCS era the NCAA has had a set conduct that athletic programs and their student athletes have been required to follow. Among many challenges the NCAA faces is exacting appropriate punishment when individuals associated with a sports program violates NCAA rules. Oftentimes, punishment extends beyond the individual associated with the violation and impacts entire teams. Such examples include the famous “death penalty” SMU suffered in 1987, being ineligible for bowl play like the 2011 Ohio State Buckeyes, or being stripped of a national championship which happened to the 2004 USC Trojans. The severity of punishment enforced on these teams were absurd knowing that in each of these incidents very few of the athletes broke the…
