Christmas In Camelot Analysis

The chapter book I have chosen to write about is Christmas in Camelot by Mary Pope Osborne, which is a part of the Magic Tree House series. This series is about two kids: Jack and Annie, who find a magical, time traveling tree house. In this book, they receive an invitation to come to Camelot for Christmas, but when they get there, no one is celebrating Christmas. They find out that a spell has been cast on Camelot that took all the joy and celebration from the people and three Knights of the Round Table are missing after King Arthur sent them to retrieve the joy. It is up to Jack and Annie to go on an adventure to rescue the knights and bring the joy back to Camelot. In this paper, I will discuss the characters and setting of the story. The minor characters in the book are: Morgan La Fay, King Arthur, Sir Lancelot, Sir Galahad, and Sir Percival. Morgan La Fay is a sorceress in Camelot, who owns the Magic Tree House and sends the children on missions. She is not prominently featured in this book, but she and the other minor characters help advance the story. When she, King Arthur, and the other Knights of the Roundtable are frozen, this causes Jack and Annie to agree to go on the mission to save them. Sir Lancelot, Sir Galahad, and Sir Percival play a role in the story by providing the children someone to rescue and they also provide the children with “gifts” that allow them to complete their mission and return joy and imagination back to Camelot.
