Right Bird Left is a painting that primarily used four of the visual elements to show and display a different meaning of the painting. This is a painting that used implied texture, which was accomplished by the way the artist worked on the brush strokes. The strokes created an idea that there were textures that were actually on the painting, even though they were not there. I think that it was good that Krasner made the strokes look different with the brush and changed the way it looked because it gives the painting a little more realistic feeling. The content within Right Bird Left helped me gain a new understanding of what it is like to truly appreciate a piece of artwork. The artist, Lee Krasner spent a lot of time on this painting and it is truly evident. I was able to find meaning by interpreting things in the artwork, like the visual elements and the principles of design that were used throughout the picture. I never would have expected for me to be able to draw something out of a picture that looked like a bunch of random feathers, but it gave me a great message of not being afraid to be different. You don 't always have to be like everyone else that you surround yourself with. This painting showed me that it is acceptable for me to be a unique

Stand there, right in front of the painting; what do you see? Look closely, very closely and see the paint on the canvas flow through each brush stroke, see the colors expand and blur, and see how the lights play off the soft, vibrant colors. Watch the swirls expand out into an infinite space in time . The paint flies beyond the canvas and the shadows and reflections blur into one. The pinks, blues, reds, yellows, oranges, purples, and browns blend together to create a symphony of colors.…

I was drawn to this painting due to its simplistic design and vibrant colors that forces the viewer to keep looking. The painting attracted my attention and every time I looked at it, I felt as if I found something new about it every time. As I continued to examine the painting its complexity continued to grow with every minute that I looked at it. Also, the size of the painting was large compared to the others in the gallery immediately making me feel that the painting had more significance and prestige than the others around it. The combination of the designs, the color and the size, overall made this painting an obvious choice for my research paper.…

The artwork I chose to imagine is Van Gogh’s famous oil painting called Starry Night. It was painted in June of 1889 and has grown to be known as one of his most famous paintings. Van Gogh was a post-impressionist and painted Starry Night from memory in his apartment. The view is of a village from a window in an asylum. I chose this painting because it has always been hanging in my Aunt’s living room.…

Considered by many to be the, “Most talented Rapper of his Generation,” Kendrick Lamar has become extremely influential and popular since the release of his hit album Good Kid, M.A.A.D City (Stone). It is this great influence around which his second and most recent album, To Pimp A Butterfly, is based. Throughout the album Lamar struggles in dealing with his wealth and influence: each song is a slow progression from an abusive, wealthy consumer to a wiser man who understands the good he can do with his power and influence. At the beginning of his album, Lamar blatantly abuses his power: he is a carless, all consuming “caterpillar” (Mortal Man).…

We often take the little things for granted when we communicate. Body language in verbal communication, kerning in written communication, and composition in artistic expression. These missed queues aren’t typically a deathblow to the message being communicated. Instead, it’s rather rare that these errors are obvious to an untrained eye unless they point out something painfully obvious, such as bad kerning turning “click” into “click.” In a recent visit to the Florence County Museum, the watercolor “At the Wedding” and it’s study composed by American artist Alfred Hutty demonstrates how subtle changes in composition can influence the perception of a piece.…
