"My Last Duchess" explicitly portrays the emotions and thoughts of the Duke of Ferrara. As it is set in a private art gallery in the palace of the Duke of Ferrara and depicts a devastating self-portrait of royalty that exhibits more of the Duke's personality than Ferrara intends. The poem also reveals the inner thoughts of the Duke Of Ferrara through the form of monologue.
