I don’t know if he really knew what he was saying.” Katherine tilted her head slightly, staring at the wall as if believing that eventually the words would magically appear to her. Angela watched her, replaying Ted’s words in her head. I’m the one person who can help you figure out how you did. Isn’t that what you want, to rest in peace. You’ve become to attached to that little boy. I can help… “Katherine.” She spoke up without thinking, startling even herself with her voice. She turned back, her eyebrows slightly raised as if she knew what she was about to say. “I have to know.” She watched Katherine’s face but it remained expressionless, “I have to know how I died.”
Katherine opened her mouth to speak but Angela quickly pressed on, cutting her off. “I’m not going to go to him for help, I don’t trust him, I’ll figure it out on my own, but it’s something I need to do. It just feels like the right thing to do.” Her words were surprising even to herself. She hadn’t intended to leave, she had planned on staying here with Katherine and Irwin for as long as needed, at least until she learned to completely control the wind and the earth. She might have even stayed with them after, she couldn’t imagine where else she would go. But now she understood the danger of staying with others.
