Analysis Of The Movie Walkout

Decent Essays
The movie walkout was a powerful movie. It showed us just a little bit of the struggles that mexican-americans went through, or as they said in the movie, the chicanos. Paula was just a senior in her high school who was tired of seeing the things that they had to face, the inequality and the segregation. Luckily for her she wasn’t the only one tired of this treatment. There were other chicanos who were tired of seeing this and that also included one of her teachers. I don’t blame them just from seeing a couple of things that they went through, like no bathroom during lunch and no speaking their native language. If they did speak spanish they’d get hit. This was a struggle for some students who weren’t as fluent in english and didn’t

    a) A Chicano has many meaning to different people; people define Chicano in their own different way. Many people will go with the simple definition which is a person that is born as American but has origin of a Mexican, however, for me, a Chicano is someone who is proud of who they are and defend their own for a fair treatment. A Chicano is a Mexican-American who is proud to say that they are a Chicano. For example, to me, Cesar Chavez defended all Chicanos and himself from the unfair treatment and payment that the Chicano got from the plantations. To me, Cesar Chavez is a true Chicano because he accepted who he was and defended his own people from others who saw them as unworthy and useless farmers or grape pickers.…

For my film analysis, I chose to analyze the movie “The Outsiders” directed by Francis Ford Coppola and based on the novel “The Outsiders” by S. E. Hinton. In this movie, a gang of outcasts from the north side of town called the Greasers are always fighting against a rival group called the Socials, who are the rich jocks from the south side of town. The story follows two young Greasers, Johnny and Ponyboy, who aren’t like the others. These two see that fighting is pointless, but it’s just the way they live their life. The two boys get into a fight with some Socials and end up killing one.…

Urban schools are most always portrayed in a negative light. Such is the case in the movie called Stand and Deliver which takes place in a high school in East Los Angeles during the 1980’s. This movie is based off a true story about a teacher by the name of Jaime Escalante, played by Edward Olmos, who worked diligently with a group of roughneck students because he thought that every student has the potential to learn. He believed that if the students and teacher had enough “Ganas” or motivation that students would supersede the expectations of any educational setting. Armed with his motivation he set out to teach 18 students far more math than they ever imagined they would learn; he taught them Calculus for them to take the AP Calculus Exam.…
