I have decided to do this paper on Mr. Hayao. Miyazaki. He is an animation artist and a manga artist. He was born in Bunkyo Tokyo, Japan on January 5, 1941. He has been making films and writing sense 1963 at age twenty two. He has made very many movie himself and helped along many more movies. Along with Isao Takahata, he co-founded Studio Ghibli. He has often been called the Japanese Walt Disney. I think that he is better then Walt Disney. I just think that his story 's and movies art made for slightly older groups of people. All of his films Have a sort of recurring theme. They often show the human and nature relationship and the difficulty of being pacifistic. His newest film The Wind Rises, was a huge success and had been shown internationally within a few months of being released. After the screening of that movie Miyazaki had announced his retirement. Miyazaki’s films speak to me in a lot more then animation or visual satisfaction. They are speaking to me as a form of art. His animation, his story its all flawless and fantastic. Princess Mononoke, which roughly translates to spirit/monster princess. Princess Mononoke is supposed to be set in the “Muromachi” Period, which is from 1337-1573. Its is the story of a young “Emishi” warrior in a struggle between the forest gods and the humans who use the forest as food, and as a home. Princess Mononoke was released in japan on July 12, 1997. Then was released in America on Oct, 29th, 1999. It was the highest-grossing film in Japan until the film Titanic was released just a few months later. When it was distributed throughout America, it had not been such a huge hit, but it was the first time that Ghibli Studios had been brought to Americas attention. Eventually it had caught wind and became a pretty huge thing in America, then Miyazaki had decided to release all of his films to America, though it would be a year or two after it was released in
