We can see this in the book as the Elite schools that want more people to apply and those who apply have to have not only three extra curriculum but also more AP classes and higher SAT/ACT scores. Deresiewicz talk about how at first institutions took in the best looking kids and those who had connections to important people. That was shown in the movie when two entrepreneurs wanted to be part of CHASE but got denied for not having the required amount of money that CHASE required. The bank itself didn’t bother to look at the way they obtain their gains but rather how much they had. Like stated before it all comes down to how much the institution will gain regardless of the students’ character or even motivation. Teaching students how to look at numbers and not implementing real life to their thinking. I mean at the end they are still a number and that’s how students go on to their career
