Personal Narrative Essay: The Joy Of Bad Speeding

Great Essays
It was a very nice summer evening, the sun was just starting to set behind us as I drove down the highway. Without a worry, the music was blaring and there was a lot of singing and laughing going on in the car. Three of my friends and I were on our way to a movie in Spirit Lake, when the trip took an unexpected turn. Now, instead of going to the movie, I was going to have to go to court. I quickly pulled to the side of the road and rolled down my window for the man that was standing there. I can remember the conversation clearly. “Do you know why I pulled you over this evening?” The officer asked with a drilling tone. “Well..uhh...yeah. I wa-was going really fast.” I stuttered back, my voice trembling. …show more content…
I learned a lot and I will forever bring this with me whenever I am in a car, driving or not. I realized during this that nobody’s life is worth getting somewhere in a hurry. You should leave with the correct amount of time to get to your destination without having to speed. Speeding is not, and never will be, the answer to getting places on time. If you have to speed to get to where you’re going, maybe you should change your plans for another day. I think people would better understand you being late rather than having somebody’s life being taken because you were in such a hurry to get somewhere that you chose to speed. I think about this everyday now, how I could have been that person that could have taken four lives. That’s four families that would have had to try and understand why their child would not be coming home.
Getting pulled over and having to learn the hard way, has changed my overall outlook on speeding and my family’s outlook on me. I am truly blessed that nothing serious happened while I was speeding. I now have to earn trust back from my parents, my friends parents and even my friends. I need to show them that I did make a mistake but it will be a mistake that I never make again. I will bring this lesson with me for the rest of my life. Speeding is very dangerous and can even be deadly. I know that speeding is never the answer and I will never speed again, no matter the

I set my cell phone down and glanced quickly to my left, decided that my way was clear, and proceeded with my turn.…

In my mind, I thought driving was only about following the road signs. I had no idea what my blind spots where, how to adjust my mirror or how to merge properly. Before i got on to the freeway, I was going about 30 mph and thinking that the speed was correct, but in reality I was going a bit too slow. The car came right next to me as I tried to merge and I stepped on my brakes and came to a complete stop, until I saw the other person was breaking so I could get on. So the person who stopped for me, and the person behind me were both honking at me.…
