The forms of conflict styles that I will be covering in the movie Office Space include accommodating,avoiding and last but not least collaborating. Conflict is something can that arise at any time, but it is up to us to be able to utilize conflict resolution strategies. There any many different ways to respond to conflict. Some conflict styles involve a considerate or cooperative approach while sometimes others involve either a competitive or passive approach.

Giving in is described as accommodating to other parties requires a lot of cooperation and less courage. The individual agrees to accommodate to the other party by acknowledging and accepting his point of view or suggest. An example of this during the movie is when is Peter is constantly reminded about the memo and putting a cover sheet over the T.P.S reports.

Avoiding conflict is one of the simpler conflict styles and is defined as avoiding or withdrawing from a conflict, by avoiding the conflict, the individual essentially pretends that it never happens or doesn’t exist. Collaborating with others involves things such as listening to the other side, discussing areas of agreement and the main focus which is your goals. According to the University of Wisconsin-Madison collaborating is the pooling of individual needs and goals toward a common goal. Often called “win win” problem-solving.
