Jonbenet Ramsey Documentary Analysis

‘I was little Miss Colorado. This Christmas I would be 26, but to everyone I’ll always be 6.’ Is a pretty powerful quote from ‘JonBenet’ out of the trailer for an upcoming movie about her case. This movie is one of many movies and documentaries that are released due to the 20th anniversary of the case. There is a very interesting documentary called “The Case of: JonBenet Ramsey” which has been released very recently. A group of experts came together to discuss the case, hoping to solve the crime. Although they did not accomplish that goal, they did find out a few interesting facts about evidence and also had a few revealing interviews.
One of the first things they talked about was the ransom note. They had Stan Burke, a retired FBI supervisory

The experts in the documentary think that it is not normal to invite friends when your child has just been kidnapped. I kind of agree with them in that point, but I can also understand the Ramseys. Their child has just been kidnapped and they are looking for emotional support. Someone they can talk to and hold on to. But because their house was pretty crowded now, Linda Arndt wanted the parents to do something to distract themselves. She told John and one of the family friends to search the house from top to bottom. Instead of doing what he was told, John started at the bottom of the house as if he knew where to find his daughter. He opened the door of the wine cellar, said something about finding his daughter and then turned on the lights. John then picks JonBenet up and carries her upstairs. He puts her on the floor instead of the couch which was not much further away. The experts in the documentary say that he did that in order to destroy DNA and other trace evidence that could have been found on his daughter. After putting her on the ground, he also puts a jacket on her which destroys even more trace evidence. So he really did a great job destroying evidence. I can understand people who are saying that he did all of this on purpose, but I can also relate to the people who say that he was just in shock. He carried her upstairs in order to get help, because he may not fully realized that his daughter is dead. He put her on the floor because there were a lot of people in that area that could have helped him ‘saving’ his daughter. After he kind of realized there was no help and that his daughter was dead, he put a jacket on her so he won’t have to look at his daughter the whole time which I think is totally

There were several things that should have had changes brought against both John and Patsy Ramsey. There were several open windows and at least one open door in the house on the night of the murder, which would make it easier for an intruder to gain entry to the home. The fact that it was later determined that Patsy Ramsey constructed and staged the ransom note with the exact amount of her husband’s bonus that was left at the scene by the Colorado Bureau of Investigations and that John Ramsey contaminated the evidence of the immediate area of the body and evidence on the body by moving it should have at least had them brought up on some type charges. Even though both of the Ramsey’s were cleared by DNA evidence, the police seriously botched…

Throughout Jodi Arias’ interrogation with Detective Flores, Jodi displayed several obvious signs of deceit – even some pointed out by Flores himself. The most noticeable sign was her stalling mechanisms – it seemed like almost every sentence had one. Her explanations seemed far-fetched and her stories were all over the place. She also exhibited psychological repression – often claiming that she couldn’t remember things. Stalling Mechanisms…

The press is highly responsible for this. Even after being cleared by the DNA evidence the Ramsey’s have remained under a multitude of suspicion from the world. To this day there are still people that believe that they killed their daughter. Because of their social status and wealth, many people assume that they paid higher officials off and hired high-powered attorneys who had connections with the DA’s office. Many feel that the media was controlled and information they obtained was purposely manipulated to benefit certain theories.…

Judicial murder made by inequity legal system In the month after “Making a Murderer” premiered on Netflix, more than 129,000 Americans signed a petition to pardon Avery and Dassey for their convictions to the murder of Halbach and in the book ‘in cold blood’ written by Truman Capote, the two murderers were treated by ignoring the mental problem influence of theirs, they stayed in prison for five years and were finally performed death penalty. After reading the book and watching the TV show, I think these crimes sufficiently prove that there is a fundamental inequity at work in countless branches of legal system. Making a Murderer tells a story about the life of Steven Avery, who was convicted of rape in 1985 and imprisoned for 18 years, despite…

The beginning of the film opens with different warnings from doctors and The Journal of the American Medical Association about an epidemic that has seem to happen overnight. The epidemic mentioned would be the attack of sugar on products. Some of the reasons sugar has been labeled as an epidemic would be because around 80 percent of all processed foods in grocery stores have added sugar that have…

I think it was very courageous of Susan Hamovitch to make a documentary of her family’s most painful, protective secret at that time. In the early 90’s, when people were judged, criticized, made fun of, and in some cases even punished for what Susan tried to reveal to the world, was very daring. It must have been not easy for Susan, nor for her family, to reveal their family’s secret to the world as the mother said to Susan when she told her her intention of making a documentary of their family secret “well, you’ve certainly dropped a bombshell.” It was a bombshell for the family because of what they kept secret of their whole life was about to be revealed to the world. The secret of the family was Alan, who never developed the ability to speak as his…

Her reason for “not getting too close to people” is that they would move again in a year. This would seem like a plausible reason to some, but the author goes on to say that their next house would be only a mile away. By adding this fact, the author is letting the readers know that “the move” is only an excuse for the family to continue being antisocial. The concept is further proven when the author writes, “Because they had no TV, the Tomkeys were forced to talk during dinner.” The word “forced” demonstrates that not only does the author’s family not enjoy socializing outside their family, but they do not even enjoy socializing with each…

For this story “Videotape” it feels as if Don DeLillo had heard of the term “Mondo film” (or as it is also known Shockumantry) and was inspired by it to write a story of someone who would be a viewer of these kind of films. A “Mondo film” is a sub genre of exploitation films that take a documentary/pseudo documentary style focusing on taboo subjects such as death real or fake. Don DeLillo 's “Videotape” shows us a man who has become desensitized to violence. The character in the story is a man who has been consumed by the media; He can no longer be entertained by fictional programs and their violence, but now seeks out his entertainment in the real world.…
