Analysis Of The Movie 'Get Out'

In the movie Get Out directed by Jordan Peele, he uses influences from the essay “Blaxploitation Horror Films: Generic Reappropriation or Reinscription” which is centralized around the ideals of white supremacy and racism in America, and how that has changed over time. According to Harry Benshoff, “The social and political meanings of the race, of course, are not fixed but are matters of ongoing construction and contestation ” (Benshoff, 3) Racism and the ideas behind slavery have constantly been reconfigured in history, but the idea of maintaining a white supremacist hierarchy still remains the same. However, Missy is able to use her status of control in a way to place blame on Chris for his mother dying when he was a kid, profiling him as an inhumane person in the inability to help her. Missy by the use of the teacup is able to restrain Chris and to paralyze him from moving and is then able to send him to the sunken place.
