When they come back to camp they find the Coldwater councilors had been massacred by the fed up teen inmates. At the end of the movie Brad has the opportunity to get his revenge and kills the Colonel. The film concludes with the fact that “dozens of teenage deaths are on record in state run and private US juvenile rehabilitation centers”. The film makes its message clear when it states the shocking reality that “no federal laws define or regulate Juvenile rehabilitation centers”, making it obvious that this has to change. Other than the obvious message that Juvenile Rehabilitation Centers need to be regulated, the hidden message is that parents should either try harder to discipline their children themselves or at least research and be aware of where they are sending their delinquent children and how they will …show more content…
Brad was upset and did not take it well because he and his mother’s boyfriend do not get along. We don’t know whether Brad’s mother was fed up with Brad’s behavior and truly didn’t know how to help her son on her own. Or if it was easier to send him away and have others deal with him. Brad’s mother should have looked into the facility, she should have researched, read reviews and testimonies to know what her son would be going through. Bootcamps and rehabilitation centers are made to be tough and shape teens into becoming model citizens however a parent considering sending their child away needs to be sure it is truly for their child’s best
