Police brutality is a cruel use of excessive force, which is usually physical. Police abuse remains one of the most serious human rights violations in the United States. It is understood that police officers carry an enormous burden each day. In many confrontations the police officers are put in a position in which they may have to use force to control the situation, but that does not give them the right to harm an individual or to take their life. Minorities have been fallen victims of police brutality based on racial profiling, stereotypes and other unjustifiable reasons that has cost several innocent lives. The involvement of officers in police brutality against minority social groups causes negative views on policing and their overall duty to protect, when they are ultimately the aggressors in this case. There has been so much police brutality from high school students to college students and the general public. African Americans have often been the victims of police brutality, more so than any other nationality. However, little justice has been done and several cases have not been reported or just went unnoticed. Police at some point feel that they are above the law.
