Source K is a primary source and is a painting by Barnett Freedman called ‘The Landing in Normandy, Arromanches: D-day plus 20 (20 days after D-day landing had taken place) 26th June 1944. Freedman a notorious official artist who travelled to the Normandy after the D-day mission took place and was paid by the government to paint the picture of Normandy. The source portrays an image of the Normandy coast and the Mulberry Harbour and landing craft and its purpose was to give an official view of the allies’ situation in Normandy and potentially to raise morale.
