Analysis Of The Jung Typology Test

This paper investigates the personality type assigned to me using the Jung Typology Test. This personality assessment is derived from Carl Jung and Isabel Briggs Myers approach to classifying individuals using three dichotomies derived from Carl Jung - extraversion vs introversion, judging vs perceiving, thinking vs feeling, and a fourth dichotomy judging vs perceiving; proposed by Isabel Briggs Myers. Possible combinations of these dichotomies result in sixteen different personality types each assigned a four-letter acronym (Humanmetrics Jung Typology Test). This paper will look in to one of the sixteen personality types along with one of Keirsy’s two letter temperaments as defined by David Keirsy. At work, I tend to be the one that is considered to know it all and can answer any question about my job and help lead team members and supervision to the correct answer. Distraction does not bother me I can work through anything and I do not mind multitasking. Being an extrovert comes with a few short comings; I believe sometimes I can be perceived as a difficult listener.

Characteristics – prefers specific answers to questions, a creature of habit, works well with facts and figures rather than ideas and or theories (Kroeger et al. 2002). I recognize these characteristics within myself very well. I am a creature of habit, I usually stick to my script on how I do things and find it hard to stray from “my usual.” I am not big on theories or ideas and rather focus on the facts. Being a creature of habit, it is hard for me to deal with things when they do not go as planned at home and at work. When working with co - workers I always ask for specifics which can sometime make some people feel uncomfortable and nervous.

Planning – defining goal, organizing – determining what tasks are to be done, controlling – monitoring activities to ensure they are being accomplished, and leading – directing others; are management functions defined by Robbins and Judge (2009), these functions are all performed by managers and are all a characteristic of my ESTJ personality type.
