Along with “Fences”, many other texts also show manipulation occurring from grudges, revenge and feuds. In the short story “The Interlopers” by Saki, two characters, Ulrich and Georg had bitterness over the judgement of a piece of forest land in the Carpathians and who it had belonged too. One evening, the two men had met in the forest in a treacherous storm and a huge tree had feel upon them and crushed them. While being stuck, they both debated on how both their men would find them first, save them and then kill the other.
