The Hunger Games movie is a very exciting movie that was adapted in order to explain several thoughts that cannot be presented as they were written by Suzanne Collins. The Hunger Games movie was changed so the viewers could understand many ideas that Suzanne Collins wrote, but could not be combined into the movie in the same way. For example, the idea that the things and the obstacles in the arena were created and controlled by the Game makers as portrayed in the movie, when the Game makers create visuals of mutations and then put them to where they want to place them. Once they are released, the mutations come to life in the arena. Quite the opposite, the Hunger Games book contains the original content and concepts. Collins wrote from Katniss’ perspective saying, “But today the black cinder streets are empty. Shutters on the squat gray houses are closed. Our house is almost at the edge of the seam. I only have to pass a few gates to reach the scruffy field called the Meadow. Separating, the Meadow from the woods, in fact enclosing all of District 12, is a high chain-link fence topped with barbed-wire loops.” The movie shows the seam during the morning of the reaping day resemble this description from the book. It was important for the movie to capture the essence that the reaping day causes. The reaping is not a happy occasion it is very depressing and devastating, hence it was vital for Collins to describe the day of the reaping as abandoned and to portray everyone as staying to themselves on this day.
