In “The Hallowe’en Party” by Miriam Waddington, Mr. Luria transforms into a more accepting father figure. His views on how his children should be brought up are modified as the story proceeds. He is portrayed as a very traditional father who immigrated from Russia; he is still embedded to his roots and religion as he prefers the farm to the city and also goes on to teach his children about it. Even though being extremely loving towards his country, Mr. Luria is also depicted as a strict parent. He makes it evident that the children “…[should] not to celebrate Christmas” (para 17) as “…it [is] a [cultural] symbol” (para 17).
