Analysis Of The Film 'Animal Waste'

The documentary was missing a logical appeal. There wasn’t much facts, instead it was their personal opinion over the waste of the factory farms. Although the document was lacking statistics approved by scientists, Don McCorkell the narrator of the documentary states "Animal waste that used to be productively recycled as fertilizer now accumulates in such mass quantities that is having a toxic impact that stretched far beyond the land and water immediately" (6:48). This statement was shown but not scientifically proven to be a correct statement. Many of the facts that are being states does not show to be approved by a certified professional. being able to tell whether the fact is true is difficult. If there is no way of proving that it was

“Like a Dog”: Novel vs Film The Trial, written by Franz Kafka, is a novel about a banker named Joseph K. who is being arrested in his own room. He is arrested in a very suspicious way without knowledge of his charges. Although K. has been arrested he can go about his daily routines with the occasional visits to court. As the case goes through, K. meets many women who seem to be attracted to him. The case seems to become irrational and surreal causing K. to slowly lose his grip on reality.…

“Hold fast to dreams, for if dream dies, life is a broken-winged bird that cannot fly” (Langston Hughes). The film “Of Mice and Men” directed by Gary Sinise is an adaption of the novel with the same name written by John Steinbeck, it depict the icon living conditions and life style of itinerant farm workers in California during the Great Depression. Both the novel and the film develop the themes of “friendship,” “loneliness,” and “loss of dreams” and use the actions of the characters to portray these themes through different methods. First of all, the theme of friendship is developed through the main character of George Milton. In the film, George displays tenderness when he gently cleans the blood from Lennie’s face after Curley attacks…

The culturally relevant film I watched was “The Vanished Elephant” directed by Javier Fuentes-León. The film was released in 2014 and is a feature narrative. It is from the countries of Peru, Colombia, and Spain. The film was played in Spanish with English subtitles. This is one of the only films that I have watched where the cast is mostly all Latino, not white, unlike other movies that would be considered popular in today’s generation.…

Importantly, both the video file “The Story of Stuff” and the article titled “Malthus and His Ghost” have strong and clear bias towards a certain idea or process. Within the article “Malthus and His Ghost” the author clearly and passionately expresses the faults he has found with Malthus’s view of population pertaining to resources and society. Moreover, within the video “The Story of Stuff” the author blatantly expresses her dissatisfaction with the process by which companies produce, consume, and dispose of products. Evidently the author does this by revealing that companies are irresponsibly exploiting natural resources and are disregarding the deadly toxins that are produced when constructing products. Even though the author greatly exaggerates…

There are many conflicting opinions whether the development of the oil sands in Canada should proceed or whether it should slow down on any plans to move forward. Although both arguments have valid points, when it comes to educating the general public, the results depend on who presents their argument in a more understandable and convincing way. I found that between the articles Why Canada needs to develop the oil sands and Stop Oil sands expansion, says Canadian and U.S. Scientists. The former was a superior article because of its detail and organization as well as the evidence provided to support their statements. The first article, Why Canada needs to develop the oil sands, starts out by discussing the diverse economy of Canada and how…

The liberal environmental activists opposing factory farming clearly do not have a grasp on reality and are just looking for attention. If they actually had the mental capacity to realize this, they would be eating factory produced meat every single day of their lives. But they do not. All they want is attention and to follow the liberal agenda. Factory farming is saving America.…

By watching the documentary, we learn that when cattle and pigs are kept in small spaces where their waste develops into a pollutant rather than a fertilizer. This is because the animals do not have enough room to graze. Along with that, industrial farming is bad for the rural environment because it Clifton air, water and soil, reduces better diversity and contributes to global climate change. Large companies have required their factories to use chemical fertilizers, but these chemicals are exposed to the outside world, resulting in pollution damage to farmlands. These factory farms emit harmful gases and particles that can contribute to global warming and harm the health of those living or working nearby.…

Factory farming is a system of rearing livestock using intensive methods, by which poultry, pigs, or cattle are confined indoors under strictly controlled conditions. Factory farms control the U.S. food production. According to Safe.org.nz “Factory farming began around the nineteen sixties and nineteen seventies with the popularity of fast food” (paragraph 2). It created the ability for companies to buy larger quantities of meat for a lesser amount of money. Factory farming also affects the earth’s environment and contributes to global warming by creating fossil fuels, carbon emissions, water and air pollution.…

Barlett and James B. Steele is a short essay published in 2008 by Vanity Fair talking about the way Monsanto treats their customers, their workers, and how they do not seem to care about the general public. Monsanto created a genetically modified seed that was capable of withstanding “its own herbicide” and allow farmers to have a “convenient way to spray fields with weed killer without affecting crops” (819). Because they are the bigger company, they often try to contact farmers into buying their seeds and to not collect the ones from their crops at the end of the harvesting season. This has resulted in the farmers having to lose out on profits (they had to buy new seeds instead of using their own) and regular customers having to eat these modified seeds without properly checking it first. With Monsanto’s Harvest of Fear, Barlett and Steele tries to inform their audience about not only Monsanto's shady ways of earning profits, but the overall corruption in the agricultural market.…

The animal rights movement consists of privileged ideology based off emotion and no logic. Nathanael Johnson explores these ideals in “Is there a Moral Case for Meat?” and a couple in the film “At the Fork” explores the morality of farming. While the article and film seem to take similar stances on the farming of animals, I disagree. Humans do not have a responsibility to avoid meat or mitigate the suffering of farm raised animals.…

"Food waste is like the band Rascal Flatts: It can fill a surprising number of football stadiums, even though many people consider it complete garbage," said John Oliver. In the Last Week Tonight with John Oliver: Food Waste (HBO), John Oliver discusses how much food Americans waste. He expresses how he is appalled and disgusted at the amount of food being wasted for various unacceptable reasons. In the What the Health documentary by Kip Andersen and Keegan Kuhn, their sole purpose was to inform the viewers about the advantages of eating a plant-based diet and provide evidence to support their reasoning. One of the major problems in the film was that a few of the facts mentioned were incorrect. Which is an issue of credibility and more importantly, it may mislead others. Therefore, the main problem is the ethical appeals because of the faulty evidence used in the film. As a result, that deceives the viewers in order to prove the director's point: eating a plant-based diet is more beneficial for your health.…
