How does the author illustrate the main character’s inability to overcome his fear
The author talks about how martin used to get bullied at school. and he talks about how terrified martin was. Martin was also scared to get on the elevator. The reason why he was scared and felt uncomfortable to ride the elevator is because the elevator could only fit three people in it. He was afraid that the elevator would fall but there was something especially unpleasant about this one .The reason why it was so unpleasant for him is because he is claustrophobic, paranoid , and has agoraphobia . He moved to an old apartment with an old elevator and it didn’t help that he was on the seventeenth floor. ‘ the fat lady was expecting him she knew he was coming she knew he lived on the seventeenth floor .When the elevator open he saw her and stood there unable to move and then backed away and as she did so her face expression started to change she started smiling . He ran for the stairs luckily the flight he fell from was between sixteen and the fifthteenn floor. He spranied his leg his dad had to take him to the hospital and on there way back they rode the elevator and then martins dad told him that he was getting off the elevator to go Check on someone martin was shock and didn't want his dad to get of the elevator . when the elevator door opened and there standing was the fat lady with a grin on her face she stepped in and when the door closed she pressed stop . my advice for martin is to knock her out with the crutches and press go or emergency and to get over his fears
