In the first line of the article it is said that problematic drinking culture is “supposably unique to all Australians”. This helps position the readers to support Livingston’s beliefs through using the word “supposably” to knock down opponent’s views on the matter that the opposition has got the facts incorrect. Yet the author does this in a subtle manner to keep the calmness and peace within the article. As he suggests that drinking quantities are not due to age requirements therefore by changing legal drinking ages it will not help to what they are trying to achieve by increasing it. Moreover, further support for this is shown when Livingston repeatedly used the words “young people” to appeal to the older
