Especially recently, kindness and positivity are working their way back into being the answer to many problems. Throughout the myth, the Ceram people illustrate that if you are kind, and have a good heart, you will be rewarded. The people that were kind, ultimately became the human race. Those with bad hearts, had their humanity taken away. Karen Armstrong wrote, “...we have created myths about our forefathers that are not historical but help to explain current attitudes about our environment, neighbours and customs.” (“What is a Myth?”, page __) During the past, people created myths to give us insight about the present. Although The Ceram Creation Myth was created so many years ago, it shows that being kind is the way to success and if you aren’t, you will face the consequences. I have learned that myths are all unique based on the culture that they come from and what their “truth” is. Also, I have learned that myths have a lot of meaning that isn’t immediately seen, and answer many questions people have that give them hope and self-worth. Myths don’t only answer questions, they also ask questions that keep people wondering about what is true and what isn’t. When the myths were created, they enjoyed by different cultures and weren’t questioned because they explained so much. Today, we are trying to find out how factual these myths really are instead of respecting their creativity and hidden meaning. Myths have helped people all over the world from when they were created, to present day.
