With the presidential election, fast approaching, it is evident that people of similar mindsets come together and make their voices heard. Although ideas on the most efficient political and economic decisions may vary greatly, as our generation matures there’s been an intense push for social change. Tolerance for discrimination towards anyone is very low. The common police brutality is believed to be brought on by racism, discrimination and stereotypes towards minorities. Unfortunately, this prejudice has led to the deaths of many African Americans. These deaths leave families tattered and torn, demanding for the justice of their loved ones. Black Lives Matter is an activist group whose focus is to guarantee “Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness for the African American in America. The Black Lives Matter movement initiated in 2012 after the case of Trayvon Martin. This case stirred up very deep social unrest in the black community. Social media became an outlet for African Americans to document and communicate the injustices that African Americans face; Specifically, the issues of Police brutality. Black Lives Matter is a social activist group whose agenda is to create a safe and equal society for black people to live in. Through a variety of activism, from rallies and protests to expressions of ideas through art progression continues rapidly. Because of the movement the phrase “Black Lives Matter” has circulated throughout the media. The popular phrase is a way to broaden the conversation about systematic injustices that black people face day to day. The presence of the child represents the innocence that children bring. Because they are naïve, young children believe that everything and everyone has good intentions. They have yet to see struggle. They’re young age causes them to be very impressionable. They aren’t taught to question what they are taught yet. If taught the wrong thing they believe it just because. With that, adults are usually more open to what a child wants say, expecting their thoughts to be mild mannered and innocent. Using this sense of affection and subtitles, he furthers a few rather controversial topics. Due to the ongoing animosity of African Americans towards Police officers, it is easy to view the race as a threat. In response to “Black Lives Matter” those who believe that the safety of officer’s lives is endangered too began using the statement “Blue Lives Matter”. Blue Lives is a phrase that has recently circulated the internet as well. Just as Black in “Black Lives Matter” refers to African American people, Blue in “Blue Lives Matter” refers to Police officers and the uniform they wear.
