The name of the book is the Marrow of Tradition. Even if you don 't realize that the title of the book gives you an insight to the story itself, it does. Marrow is basically bone and people often say let 's get down to the bone which means that they want to get down to the main facts or even the underlying problem. Tradition on the other hand is customs and beliefs that are past down from generation to generation. The book’s title is basically saying that we 're getting down to the bottom of the the problem and how it has been going on for generations. “All good things must come to an end”,well it was at least good for people like Olivia, Tom and Major Carteret. Everything did come to an end for them. No one actually realize now how an author thinks …show more content…
When I was younger I overheard my parents having a conversation unrelated to the current story, but necessary for me to make my point, I heard my mother say “history repeats itself when you haven’t learned a lesson. I never understood it or even thought of it until I was in a literal history class and I realized that something that happens hundreds of years ago to an empire just happen to happen to a country hundreds of years after. After all of that I started to look at people’s families, like if something happens to your grandfather and the family didn’t learn anything about it that it would probably happen to the son. Back to the story I was telling, in a way history is always repeating itself because let’s face it humans can be really dumb at seeing clues and connecting the dots for example the standoff which included Josh Green and his men and Captain McBane and his men. Throughout history people have been going stupid things for even more stupid

A Line in the Sand: The Alamo in Blood and Memory shows several methods in which people can take an event and create propaganda that they can use to benefit their needs. Sometimes, people use history as an excuse to do things that would not normally be considered as the right thing to do. We are taught history in the hopes that we will be able to avoid the mistakes of past, however, it seems that history continues to repeat itself. However, it seems that history often finds a way to repeat itself, even during the present day. We have come a long way from the time of Pope Urban II but the problems we face are still similar in essence. History is always being created, but never changed or altered. Although something may have happened yesterday, today, it is now considered historic. The irony here is that whether it happened a few hours ago, yesterday, last week, or many years ago, it is still considered historic because it is now in the past. As stated by Dr. Drake in many lectures, “history does not necessarily repeat itself, but it does rhyme.” From 1865 to the 2000s, different areas of history have a stronger rhyming scheme than others.…

We have read much about the great wars. The stories from the second great war have simultaneously transfixed and horrified us. How one nation could perpetuate such horror on humans is unimaginable, yet if we deny the truths from that time surely we would more easily be a willing future participant if history were to repeat. Always, when reading a story from WWII, I cheer the allies and clench my fists at the Germans.…

Over the years, people's opinions and perspectives on certain traditions and actions change. For example, in the early 19th century, dueling with guns was socially acceptable and widely practiced, but now, in the 21st century, dueling with guns is no longer a socially acceptable practice. One of the most influential quotes about history that was ever said was by Edmund Burke who stated “those who don’t know history are doomed to repeat it.” This is such a powerful quote because it explains the significance of knowing the past and how valuable it can be. Those who are unaware of the past will repeat it because they are unaware of what has occurred before and what lessons can be learned from those events. One of my favorite musical artists, J. Cole, once stated in his song “Fire Squad,” “History repeats itself and that 's just how it goes.” With all of these iconic individuals sharing the value of History, it becomes very evident to me how crucial it…

Memories are not an objective ideal. Memories are malleable, adjust themselves based on current events, and up for interpretation. The Civil War has always been a difficult time for Americans to digest as finding common ground seems near impossible. The memories and their interpretation are so divided that it is hard to discern what is true, what is right, and what is biased. With people on all sides fighting for their views, using the memories to promote their particular needs and grievances, the Civil War has never been so complicated.…
