The Outsiders Analysis The Outsiders book is told by a fourteen-year-old Greaser named Ponyboy. Everything that we learn and discover throughout this book is told from Ponyboys perspective. Ponyboy tells a tragic and emotionally story that deals with needless violence and pain that is caused by gang rivalry. Young men fighting against one another, dying on the streets, running away from home and skipping school regularly. The Outsiders is written by S.E Hinton, the story takes place in 1960 in the city of Oklahoma. The novel is about two different social groups known as the Socs and the Greasers.
