The driving force that kept this mentality going was not the mature adults, but rather the curious teenagers of the time. With the economic restraints of war lifted, parents could afford to give their children a little extra pocket money. Which they would take and spend on things like music or cinema showings. These investments made the media industry flourish and became a big influence on young teens. Budding celebrities became the picture of style and fashion. Teens being young and impulsive. would base their entire looks and attitudes toward these stars. Clothing distributors caught onto this fact and teenage fashion quickly became a huge industry. Trends starting being defined by the youths of America and less on their parents. This can still be said about today 's society and what is considered in style or "cool".
