She did not like wearing the veil because she did not understand why she had to wear it, along with many other things she was very confused about but her family then gradually helps her understand and make sense of what’s happening. Whenever she meets up with her friends they would act out revolutionary figures and as a result her parents bought her books on the revolution to educate her. The images may look and seem so simple but the setting, the way the characters communicate, and the contrast in lighting was all very effective. The fact that Satrapi can portray a tremendous amount of emotions in an uncomplicated manner is very impressive. Marjane Satrapi is a French Graphic novelist and children’s book writer. Its hard for an author such as Satrapi to put her personal life as a child and change it into a comic book format and make what was once a very traumatizing experience into an inspiring lesson for people everywhere. I recommend this book to boys and girls 12 and up since this book deals with lots of violence and mature
