One Came Home is about a girl name Georgie who is in search for her sister Agatha. Everyone in the family is convinced that Agatha is dead when a decomposed body is brought to their attention. However, Georgie had a gut feeling that the body was not her sister. Usually in cases like this, people would receive help from outside professional sources such as forensic scientists but, due to this story being located in Placid, Wisconsin, the scientists were no where to be found. Georgie didn’t want to wait around for ever so, she decided to take matters in her own hands and go with her gut feeling that her sister was still alive. But, how does that explain Agatha’s clothes on Darleen? Well, prior to Agatha leaving, she sold a dress to Darleen, which she just so happened to be wearing at that time of death. Georgie felt bad that Darleen had died but felt a sense of relief once she knew that her sister was safe and sound.
I really enjoyed how in the beginning of the book it tells the reader that there was a death and then as the book goes on, it tells the reader everything that occurred leading up to the death. I loved the ending when the family received the letter from Agatha and the dead body was really someone else. I honestly did not see that coming but it was a great plot twist at the end. I’m really into crime scene shows such as CSI, Criminal Mines, as well as Law and Order so; I was able to follow along really well with the book.
