In the end he finally gets caught by one of Don Lupe’s sons. Once he is caught by Don Lupe’s son, he pleads with many to help him live. Here is a clear example from page 443: “’Look at me, coronel,” he asked ’I’m not worth anything. It won’t take long for me to die all by myself, crippled by old age. Don’t kill me…!’” (Rulfo 443). And they still paid themselves out of what was left so they wouldn’t keep after me, but they kept after me all the same. In other words, that business is already old and should have been forgotten by now. But it’s clear it hasn’t been.” (Rulfo 441).
