What Is The Purpose Of Act Like A Man By Steve Harvey

Report on Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man Steve Harvey wrote the book Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man, and says, “This book is dedicated to all women. My hope is to empower you with a wide-open look into the minds of men.” Over the years Steve Harvey came to realize that women really do not understand men. The purpose of the book is to end the mystery and help women to understand how men think. Three things drive men: who they are, what they do, and how much they make. Men feel judged by other men based on these three things. I now understand that men want bragging rights, and to be the best at something. In the future I will be more understanding about a man’s need to boast about himself. Now that I understand men really need to be …show more content…
I need to be supportive of the next man in my life. This can be as simple as my saying “I appreciate you” or “thank you”. Loyalty to a man is standing by him, so I will make sure that my future man knows that I have his back. He will know that if it is important to him, it is important to me. Men need sex. It is their way to connect with women. With women, we talk to connect. Men talk because they know they have to in order to get the sex they want. In the past I have expected my man to know what I would like. After reading this book, I realize I need to voice my wants and needs, because men do not catch subtle hints and implications. This applies to more than just sex. Do not hint at a gift you want. Tell him, “I’d really like to have this …show more content…
Play things set no rules or boundaries. In the past I have let men set the rules and just gone along with whatever they wanted. I am no longer the “whatever you want” girl. The marrying kind are ladies who have set rules and boundaries. I respect myself enough to demand respect from a man. I let men know up front that I have ground rules. On a first date, I only meet them in a public place. I let them know upfront that I will not rush into an intimate relationship. If they cannot handle that, then I have just saved myself time wasted on a man who does not want the same things I do. A lady should hold on to her “Cookie” until a man has earned it. It is recommended to wait at least 90 days before you give a man your Cookie. I have dated a lot of men only once, because I realized they were only after my cookie and nobody gets my cookie on a first date.
If a man really cares for you, loves you, he will show it. Mr. Harvey states that men have three Ps of Love. They are Profess, Provide, and Protect. I want a man who cares enough for me to “title” me. I want him to Profess me as his lady, his girlfriend, or his wife. I want him to talk about me to others with pride. Men want to feel needed. I want a man who wants to meet my needs and Provide for me, physically and emotionally. I want a man who will Protect me with everything he has. I want a man who will not allow others to disrespect me in any

“Sacred Search” Allana Dorsett FACS 205-001 Liberty University Sacred Search Summary Gary Thomas’ book “Sacred Search” explains that a person should consider the reasons for wanting to get married more so than who they marry. He elaborates on why men and women choose to marry, as well as the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of both in a marriage relationship. One of the great feats of Thomas’s book is that he details a biblical argument to destroy the notion that there is one potential spouse for each person. He explains that yes, God does sometimes lead some to people to each other, but a majority of people have absolute free will to decide who they will marry.…

The story, under first impression, shows hard work is efficient enough to gain wealth. However, sober, honesty, and industrious are defined in the books section about character and morality. This affects the young male readers as it allows masculinity to define one’s work ethic, wages, and profession. By including these testaments, a reader is inclined to embody honesty and industrious qualities to become this “successful professional man” and to raise their own socioeconomic position to meet this idealized form of masculinity. However, a counterpoint to this example is found in the article “Effects of Wealth on Morals” which is included in The Contributor, a literary magazine designated for young men.…

Desire and Desperation for Self-Recreation Almost every teenager feels the need to prove their worth during their adolescent years. This may occur due to peer pressure at school, or to a grandparent, who is usually heard talking about “back in the day”, or most popularly, to parents who always praise an overshadowing sibling. Sometimes, this need spills over into the adult life, where a husband may feel as if he’s constantly trying to impress his parents-in-law. If it were possible, in any way, for any of the above to re-create themselves as perfect in theirs or other’s eyes, they probably would.…

“Women’s Studies: A man’s perspective” offers a thoughtful and insightful viewpoint of the tribulations that may be encountered, and the advantages that may be acquired, as a result of participating in a women’s studies course as a male. Although Evan Weissman received support on his decision to complete a women’s studies course by several of his closest loved ones, others mocked him and questioned his confidence as a man. Many of those that insulted him lacked the ability and competence to recognize the positive outcomes a women’s studies course could provide. According to Weissman, most men are oblivious to the advantages and dominance they possess over women. Through women’s studies, Weissman was able to develop a strong sense of confidence in himself, and realize that the attainment of his goals was, in part, influenced by his gender.…

Rosin may be right that women are gaining more presence, and that men no longer control all aspects of society, however she ignores the ways in which women are oppressed in society. In the essay “Two ways a woman can get hurt,” senior scholar Jean Kilbourne, currently serving on the Massachusetts Governor’s Commission on Sexual and domestic abuse , asserts that through the objectification of women in advertisements and other forms of media, women continue to be submissive to men and continue to be disadvantaged in today’s society. He states that “when men objectify women, they do so in a cultural context in which women are constantly objectified in ways that there are consequences−from economic discrimination to violence−to that objectification.” In other words, contrary to Rosin’s claims, he says that the power between genders is unequal and that women continue being oppressed and discriminated against (433).…
