Mike Heck from the TV show The Middle seems like every other sitcom dad from being lazy, uncaring, and letting the mother take care of the kids, cleaning, and being the responsible parent. In the article, “Male Bashing on TV”, Michael Abernethy states that males are portrayed unfairly on TV. Abernethy presents evidence of male bashing on television by using examples of television shows and commercials. The article was published in 2007 on a website named PopMatters.com. This website works to help further society in their knowledge of pop culture. Abernethy’s audience is men from all over the world who engage in Pop Matters. Michael Abernethy’s argument is effective through his use of credibility, emotion, and logic.
Abernethy’s overwhelming attempt to achieve credibility makes readers realize he is adamant about his argument.
