The ad uses color and lighting to portray the man as lonely and depressed. The images have dull colors, specifically a lot of gray and tan. These colors are uneventful and make the images look lifeless. Also, the viewer is not drawn to any particular part of the image because of the lack of color. The man does not appear lonely with the addition of the dog. His slumped over body stance and tilted head gives him the appearance that he is accepting of the dog. The dog also looks excited to be with the man as his tail appears to be wagging and his tongue which is sticking out. The dog also appears to be giving its undivided attention to the man even though he could be running around or playing in the ocean.
