In Thank you for arguing Heinrichs explains Cicero's three steps of moving the actions of the audience by using argument by character, emotion, and logic and expectations of an audience. He also explains how to move an audience in motion by using selflessness for personal gain. Rhetoric influences relationships, speaking, writing, and disproves logic. Heinrichs defines and explains the three steps of arguing by changing the audience's mood, mind, and willingness to carry out an argument to an audience. For example, many writers change the reader's emotions by their use of words and images to change the mood of their readers to deliver a message. Another example is how a child doesn't fully understand the way they use rhetoric to persuade their parents. Like a child may use, “ becky's mom lets her go out to the movies so why can't you let me go?” the child shows her mother how her friend’s mother trust her daughter to go to the movies and uses rhetoric to show her mother that if she doesn't let her go then it would mean she doesn't trust
