1. Demi Lovato – “Tell Me You Love Me”. I have been following Demi Lovato since I was in middle school. She was always my favorite on Disney Channel because I was able to relate with her so much. She has gone through a lot in her life including being bullied, doing drugs, and suffering from an eating disorder. However, the older she has gotten the more in control of her life and self-confidence has grown. This last album shows me exactly how she has gotten her life together. She is unapologetic for her grown (shown in “Sorry Not Sorry” in her album) and I admire her for it.
2. Megan Trainor – “Thank You”. The strength in Megan Trainor’s voice always strikes me at my core. Her album came out before my graduation from high school, so it was my focal point at the end of my last year. She promotes for self-confidence within your imperfections. I love her song “Me Too” mostly because of the music video. The video starts up with her waking up in mix-matched pajamas with a clean face like a normal woman in the morning and it shows more realistic characteristics unlike majority of the music industry. I also love her song “NO” in the album because she encourages women to stick together and shows her independence in no needing a man in her life. Sam Smith – “The Thrill of It All”. Sam Smith is a humble man, despite being famous. He sings about being hurt, making mistakes, and staying close to his family. He dedicated a song in his album for his mother which was “Scar”. He promotes being a feminist and is an artist I look up to. His song “One Last Song” is bittersweet to me because I’ve had to finally give up on someone after trying so hard. This album gave me the strength to finally give up a toxic person and has made my quality of life better.
