The next shot is of someone taking the box off of a shelf, at this point we know that the burning of the box will come back at the end so we begin to question what the meaning of the box is and also what is inside the box. The box is visually something very beautiful. It is wooden and has special carvings and patterns on it, but it is wrapped up in a strong steel chain clearly covering up its beauty. We were never shown what was actually inside the box but as the video continues we understand that it something very important to the men that they clearly don’t want anyone to know about. We get to know this as they are digging the box into the ground with the hope that no one will find it. There is a close up on one of the men’s hands as he is pushing the dirt into the ground giving the idea that he is suppressing whatever is inside the box, possibly as he is wary of the consequences that may lie ahead if it was found. The idea of suppression and feeling trapped can be seen through symbolism as they are keeping the box hidden from the world to see. Tension is created through this aspect as we start to think about what is inside the box. As the story continues we figure that the box is a symbol of their love for eachother, something that they don’t revealed as they expect dire consequences. Through the box we are exposed to the feelings of the two men and get to see what they are thinking. We get to see that the love they share for eachother is something that they don’t want to have exposed and they know that they can’t act as themselves. The way the two men cherish the box gives us the impression that what is in the box is very important to them and we see from the way they constantly protect and treasure it that is very important.
