“Suzy and Leah” by Jane Yolen is a story of two girls, Suzy and Leah. One is a refugee from Germany and the other an American. The girls didn’t get along at first but they got to know each other and built a good relationship. Throughout the story Leah realizes that all people aren’t bad and going to treat her like the Nazis did, she learns to build relationships and trust others. Leah is a refugee and a German-born Jew. She travels from Germany to the United States and everything seems unusual to her, Leah has to learn to adapt to her new life and learn more English. She gets paired up with Suzy, an American and Suzy has to help Leah with her English. The girls have a rough start and they don’t understand each other and they want new partners.
