While your education is important, the article “students who push Burgers” by Walter Minot. While I can appreciate his views, and agree that students only work to for luxury. I really disagree with that. Many students who do not have the luxury of just going to school.Students may have other responsibilities,maybe the are on their own and don’t have parents that can or will help them. Students need to work to maintain a car to get back, and forth to class or pay rent ,maybe financial is not enough to cover books, etc..Student’s do need to devote most of their time to their studies, and less time at work. with any other issue in your adult life the student has to learn how to balance time, and money.
When my older children were little I decided to go to nursing school when they were 7,5 and 2 years old. I was a single mom newly divorced trying to figure out how to care for 3 little kids on my own. I tried to work ,and care for the kid while going to school but I found it difficult to work . I do agree students need to focus on their education, working per week will not hurt them, I believe it will give them incentive to work hard at school. Give them the drive, and focus to finish their education. Minot’s article I felt as though it was a rush to judgement.,my advice having been a student.work what you can save what you can before you start college, and research financial aid, and scholarship programs, and live more simply don’t get caught up on unessasary expenses. Work if you have to but try to get by working the minmal hours to give you what you need to get by
