A Response of Steve Jobs Commencement Address One of the wonderful speeches that inspired a thousand graduating students of Stanford University belonged to Steve Jobs, who was the CEO of Apple Computer and of Pixar Animation Studio. In his famous speech, he inspired many college students and urged them to think deeply about their future by telling them three lessons from his own life experiences. Steve did an amazing job by breaking his lessons into three points: How to connect the dots, how to love, and how to deal with loss and death. It became clear to me that what he said actually worked perfectly on me years later. When I was in high school, I thought that learning how to use computers and studying English were extremely boring and ineffective. However, when I started to study at college in the U.S, I realized that what I had learned in high school turned out to be very useful. Now I can use office software extremely effectively and efficiently so that doing assignments on Blackboard become very easy to me. Therefore, doing what we want, what we think is best for us, and what we feel is interesting, even if things look crazy and the outcome is not what we expected, we will soon be able to enjoy our …show more content…
He gave the advice that knowing about death was the best way to avoid thinking we had something to lose. Then he said he was diagnosed with cancer and it was incurable. The doctor advised him to get everything done for preparing to die. Fortunately, the doctor discovered that his cancer was curable with surgery, so he did the surgery and everything was fine for him. This terrifying experience taught Jobs to treat every day as if it was his last. In this lesson, Steve suggested that time was short, so do not waste it to live the life of someone else. He also said that your inner voice was already known what you wanted to do, so you just needed to have the courage to follow
