Personal Narrative: It's Time To Stay Home

Improved Essays
The other article that I read about was a husband who wrote, “Husband rants online that his stay-at-home wife is too costly for him.” Reading this I could not have gotten a bigger smile on my face, I know totally not what you were expecting me to say by the title. This husband definitely appreciates his wife and everything she does, and with everything he states, she is definitely doing something right. Steven starts out saying, “With childcare costs it would’ve been a wash with her income at best. So we decided that she would stay home as long as it made sense.” This is how my husband and I decided on how I would stay home. Daycare cost way too much, basically if I worked it would be to keep my son in childcare while my husband would still be paying all of the bills. It was like paying someone to take care of my son while I went somewhere else to be …show more content…
For me I am a mother, wife, babysitter, full online student, and I try to help everyone out that I can because I know that there are single mother who would love to stay home with their child but need to be out there in the world supporting their child. Some days I will have 4 kids at a time while having 5 assignments due that day, and still having to clean and make dinner for my husband, as well as running my son or cousin to their classes. Most people would think that cleaning is easy, if you’re a mother with a crazy toddler running around your house with non-stop energy you’d understand that that’s not my case. I am constantly always on the move with very little time to sit down. Being a stay at home is a job, but with no paycheck. I get paid wish kisses, hugs, and being appreciated every now and then. How is staying at home doing everything I do not benefitting my family when really it’s saving more money than if I was working. Being a stay at home mother is my job, with very little breaks, sleep, being over-worked, and still managing to love every minute of

A mother does more than what she is expected, she goes above and beyond. Decision is the word I chose to explain my experiences of how I became and who I am. I want to be different from my brother, uncles and the rest of the family. I want to be an example for my Dad and Mom, even if my decisions are hard to take, because I can remember the first conversation with my Mom about dropping out of school and explaining why I have to do that, how I was going to deal with that decision and asking her to support my decision so she can help me explain it to my Dad. Well, the conversation with my Mom was so easy always, never forget how Mom is so understandable she always help me alot…

The first thing i want to point out is the only reason i am still bothering you is your explanation of why i can’t go was very bad ,fragmented, and i didn’t understand your reasoning and I you didn’t take into any account of what I was saying. Your first reason was that I had made an “impulse” decision to go on the Chicago trip. Which is false because as soon as I learned about the trip I really wanted to go but wasn’t allowed to because of previous boundaries set in place that the tour company had put on Lumley and second of all I didn’t know if they would still take me after the date. Your second reason was that the previous day I was hyping up camp and getting excited about it.…

However, I think that if moms were monetarily compensated for being a stay at home mom this would only back fire on us in the end. If a parent is financially stable enough to be a stay at home mom they are truly lucky. Majority of moms aren't able to be a stay at home mom and that is perfectly fine. Individuals should have the mindset of wanting to provide for their child even if that means they can't be a stay at home mom. If they are able to be a stay at home mom this is just a plus and an extra benefit for them but not something they should be paid to…

And if we look at the mother through the eyes of another mother who stays at home, she see this other mother who strays away from the stay-at-home mom routine as lower than she is and not caring to much about her children which is wrong for both sides. Typically the man is supposed to be the breadwinner still, but women are encouraged to do so as well, but more and more often, because we are humans who adapt well to new situations, we are getting used to working from home. Now a mother or father can be the breadwinners, but at the same time who is to say that just because they are home, they are playing their role as a male or female. The internet age has changed dramatically what a woman can or cannot do, or vice versa what a man can or cannot do. There are now more online jobs than there was a couple of years…

Introduction For centuries a myth has been purported regarding Black fatherhood. That myth carries with it a misguided belief that Black fathers are overwhelmingly absent and uninvolved child rearing activities. The myth is persistent within American society where it is replayed ad nauseam in the mainstream media where one would be hard pressed not to believe a great number of Black fathers are detached from family life due to incarceration, dependency issues, unemployment or underemployment. Mass media reports a subsequent breakdown of the Black family unit leaving behind children with a penchant for problems adjusting socially with their peers, poor school performance, delinquency, violence and other associated issues. The overall takeaway…

This could be problematic because there are a lot of stay at home dads or just fathers in general that like to watch their children and this statement makes fun of that. I feel simply taking out the word babysit and leaving the statement “John stayed home with his son while his wife ran a few errands”. This statement is sexist because it makes it seem as if women and men are only entitled to a certain career path. This could be problematic because it comes off as a limitation to what men and women can choose in the work field when they in reality can be anything they want to be.…

It all started around five am, we all started to pile up into the jeep. While everyone stumbled around like drunken zombies, I was wide awake and pumped up. I grabbed my blanket, my pillow, and my snacks and hopped in. Our first stop was up at Casey’s for drinks, so that we could begin our four hour long journey to the camp grounds. Jess turned up the radio, I stared out the window and listened to the music for the first 30 minutes of the ride.…

Children growing up in homes where both parents work, or a single parent home, and the parent has to work, often leaves kids raising themselves and often their younger siblings. As I began to look into research about, as I known it growing up, “latch key” kids, I found it interesting that with most searches, uninvolved parenting also brought up neglectful parenting. Are the youth of today being neglected, left to raise themselves, pushed into growing up too fast, or is it that in today’s society, the only choices are to work to provide or be a non-working parent and live in poverty and on welfare. As much as I would like to be a stay at home mom and spend endless amounts of time with my children, the reality is, that isn’t reality. It sounds real good and a bit fairy tale.…

Unless my current boyfriend is magically going to earn a six-figure salary in the nearest future, there is no way on earth I would ever think about being a stay-at-home mum. I honestly do not understand why working mothers do get the backlash they do for making the decision to go back to work and putting her kids in daycare, I can only sum it up with an attitude of, unless you are paying my bills your opinions do not matter to me. I guess the way I justify my way of thinking is, I want to live a glamourous lifestyle, and I can tell you right now my boyfriend’s pay alone is not going to be able to afford that lifestyle anytime soon. So! Since I am not one to settle, I figured I have to work, before, during and after child-birth.…
