” And they're coming to take me away ha-haaa / They're coming to take me away ho-ho hee-hee ha-haaa / To the funny farm / Where life is beautiful all the time / And I'll be happy to see those nice young men / In their clean white coats /And they're coming to take me away ha-haaa (Napoleon, 9-14). It is shown here with the song “They’re Coming to Take Me Away” written by Napoleon XIV in 1966 that the band has an interesting and quirky choice in lyrics along side Norman Greenbaum. Allowing a great compare and contrast to be made between the two Artists, Norman Greenbaum, and Napoleon

and George Weiss symbolically connected the colors of nature to the colors of mankind. This powerful theme of the song worked to send a message of acceptance for all races despite their skin colors, and I personally take that message to the heart. There’s an optimistic tone to the song with lines like “I see babies crying, I watch them grow”, this gives off a sense of serenity and hopeful view of the future. This is also why I chose this particular piece, the songwriters’ and I share the same sentiment of opposing pessimism and proclaiming a brighter tomorrow.…

People practice different rituals and different ways of life, but never fully have a reason for doing so. In “The Vision Quest and the Guardian Spirit”, by George A. Pettitt, he describes the way people in North America develop a vision quest and the concept of a guardian spirit. Pettitt uses good examples, but when explaining them, does not seem so positive of what he is stating. He discusses the process of a vision quest and does so by bringing up stories of boys and hardships they go through in the process of a vision quest and finding a guardian spirit. He argues that a person starts their vision quest at an early age by going through hardships and that there are religious concepts involved in the process, as well as the idea of wealth…

In Aristotle and Dante Discover The Secrets Of The Universe, the author, Benjamin Alire Sáenz, describes the journey of two friends, Aristotle “Ari” and Dante, in the late 1980’s in El Paso, Texas. As the friendship develops between Ari and Dante, Ari gradually discovers the traumatic secrets that his parents have hidden from him and gains an entirely different perspective about his life. Through indirect characterization of Ari’s thoughts portraying his dad’s trauma from his war experiences, and the external conflict of Ari’s parents struggling with the circumstance surrounding their son’s imprisonment, Saenz shows that the decision made by the Mendoza family to keep traumatic events to themselves results in family members suffering pain and grief. In essence, the author demonstrates that hiding traumatic events from…

All have different views and opinions on the universe and the study of the cosmos. Some eagerly learn all they can about the universe, whilst others prefer to focus on the events right in front of them. The pros and cons to having a wide understanding and perspective of the universe vary depending on prior knowledge and opinions. While some would rather halt space exploration entirely, many still hunger and yearn to learn more about the universe around them. The human race needs to gain more knowledge of space with a new perspective to better understand their past, home, and universe.…

When I was just a toddler, I would try to climb in the dishwasher and take everything out while mom was trying to do the dishes. In order to keep me from doing that, dad needed to play video games as long as they entranced me. One of the games he played was The Legend of Zelda. Growing up with this game and spending time with my dad while he played it fueled the love I developed for this game and it’s music. The first four songs on the soundtrack of my life, composed by Koji Kondo, are songs from that video game.…

I remember studying these songs while studying Gene Kelly and Donald O’Connor last year in a theater class I took. My favorite scene in the whole film was then Don, Cathy and Cosmo danced to the song “Good Morning.” I like this song so much that I have set it as my alarm tone when I wake up in the morning. Finally hearing “Singin’ in the Rain” for the first time gave me goosebumps. I have never heard the song in context so I didn’t understand why a man was jumping around in an empty street.…
