The Film Saving Private Ryan Successfully represented the initial Invasion of the D-day invasion but failed to represent anything else in the film. Saving Private Ryan failed to accurately retell the events of planning the D-day invasion and what went into the planning. While it did represent a small part of the Americans involvement with their invasions of Omaha and Utah beaches it failed to show anything else. More than 11,000 aircraft were mobilised to provide air cover and support during the invasion that would occur the next day. This was day 5 beaches were taken by the allies. Around 156,000 troops from Britain, Canada, and the Americas were involved in the invasion. The allies landed on 5 different beaches, these being Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno, and Sword, at around 6:30 am on June 6th in an attempt to take the beaches to get more troops onto the land. With the British landing on Sword and Gold, the Canadians landing on Juno and the Americans landing on Utah and Omaha. Saving Private Ryan shows the American troops landing on Omaha beach, with the blood red from the blood of the fallen after being attacked by the enemy as the boats were landing. The US suffered heavily on Omaha beach with over 2,000 casualties' due to heavy resistance compared to the resistance the allies faced on the other beaches, Omaha was the beach that they struggled the most to capture.
