The affair of president Thomas Jefferson was with a lady named Sally Hemings; she happened to be an African-American slave. Sally (whos name was really Sarah) worked in the Virginia plantation that was owned by Jefferson, but in her earlier teen years she was working as a household servant. When Thomas Jefferson’s wife, Martha, passed Sally became closer to Jefferson’s daughter Mary Jefferson. The affair between the two happened when Sally was just a 14 year-old girl. Jefferson went on a trip to Paris with his daughter, Martha, but while he was there, back home his other daughter Lucy passed from receiving whooping cough. After this, Jefferson requested for Mary to go to Paris with him and Martha; they brought along Sally Hemings with them
