The correlation between saint/martyr narratives to slasher films have been made before and like slasher films, the audience would enjoy the women being murdered more than men are because, some scenes would be considered strongly erotic, and some people might gain arousal from these sexual scenes. Not only is she being behead as described by Sapolsy and Molitor, but the “extreme violence” is also being portrayed in “graphic detail.” Another characteristic of slasher films is the violence with sex. What Sapolsy and Molitor noticed was other people criticizing slasher films for having sex mixed with the extreme violence (37). The whole reason Margaret is tortured is that she will not have sex with Oblibrius. He states, “’Seize her at once! If she is a free woman, I will take her to wife, to have and told hold, and if she is a slave, I will make her my mistress, (47). He wants to claim Margaret as his wife or his mistress one way or another he wants to have sex with her and that is the main reason for his desires. Later Oblibrius states: “’But understand one thing: unless you renounce it, my sword will bite into your flesh and destroy it, and afterwards, your bones will be burnt to ashes on burning coals. But if you will accept me, you will be my beloved and my wedded wife, and possess as its lady everything I own and rule over as lord’”
