10% What Happens “Life is 10% what happens and 90% how you react.” Said by Charles R.S Windoll. The meaning of this quote in basic terms is, what is going on in life is going to happen; therefore, life is how you make it and about the choices made. It explains how every situation little or small is affected significantly by the response. Life is made up of a million different actions and responses every day, and the responses are the factor that decides and defines a person’s character and traits. This quote is very applicable to my life, and I can see situations very early on where it has affected my personality and my character. What does this quote mean to me? “Life is ten percent what happens..” Simply means Stuff is going to happen, …show more content…
The first and, most likely, the largest situation and the reaction came tumbling at me at the age of five, with my parents’ divorce. My choice that I made subconsciously was to push everyone away mainly, my parents. In time that mended, but I was never as enthusiastic and smiley as before. Next, there was when both my parents remarried two other individuals, and I made a choice about how I was going to handle it. It affected me, and I chose to push myself further away from people and hide my feelings. Subconsciously I applied this quote to my life at a young age and grew further away from many people. Later I changed the condescending, defiant, and depressed attitude as I actively applied this quote to make my life happier and immensely better.
Now it is prominent that this quote can encompass bad and good in the decisions made in my everyday life to change the way I perceive it. I can choose to make a bad situation good by reacting correctly and always keeping a good attitude. I believe this quote used properly can make any life more enjoyable on a whim. Therefore, if life puts me on the side of the road the I’ll be there

Excerpt from Brain Jack by Brian Falkner: “‘Why suddenly self-destruct when you’ve already won?’” (165). I chose this excerpt because of its simplistic but yet meaningful message. As we all go through life we will all undoubtedly be faced with circumstances that will make us gush with happiness, circumstances that will make us cry from the pits of our souls, and circumstances that will make us want to scream from the highest peak of the mountains. For me when I am in one of these situations I look for wisdom from one of my longtime heroes Dr. Martin Luther King jr.…

Life is simply perspective. Some say that you have your whole life to do something, while others will argue that life is short and you should enjoy it to the full extent of it’s worth. You can look at something as exquisite, or atrocious. It doesn’t change what it is, but it changes your reaction to it. No matter how sure you are about the morality, someone else could view it differently.…

People are often treated or judged in a manner that is less than equal before people know the true nature of the person. For us, judgement is an instinct, we use it to make assumptions of what is safe, right, and wrong. Judgement is the ability to make considered decisions or come to sensible conclusions. Throughout The Scarlet Letter, judgement is displayed quite often. Hester Prynne, the main character in The Scarlet Letter, commits a sin that is heavily looked down upon, and she is forced to adjust to her new life of constant judgement and ridicule.…
