I had the opportunity to watch the movie “Risen” during Fall Break for extra credit. The movie is about a Roman military guard named Clavius who remains set in his ways after serving in the army. He arrives at a crossroad when he 's tasked is to investigate the mystery of what happened to Jesus following the aftermath of the Crucifixion. Throughout his journey, Clavius discovers the truth that he 's been seeking. It was a very interesting movie because it was from Clavius’ perspective and it showed the aftermath of the crucifixion. Of the four portraits of Pilot presented in the four gospels, which gospels appears to be closes to Pilot is the Gospel of Matthew because he is no more than the necessary Roman authority for allowing the crucifixion to take place. I think it is the Gospel of Matthew because it portrays Pilot as just doing his job with a more or less a neutral position. As in the movie “Risen” and the Gospel of Matthew, shows Pilot washing his hands to show that he is not responsible for the execution of Jesus and reluctantly sends him to his death. Also, both in the movie and the Gospel of Matthew describes breaking the legs of Jesus to show mercy this indicates the Pilot was just doing his requirement for his job.
