In the article “A Suicide at Twelve: ‘Why, Steve?” of Richard E. Meyer, the author narrates a whole life of a young boy whose name is Steve Dailey. Through the article, we could see the whole life of Steve from the day he was born to the day he chose a rope and bough to end his life although nobody, who lived around him, understood the reason why he had to kill himself. Therefore, the author still keeps a question “Why, Steve?” for the article.

His passion for soccer was still present in his mind, but he did not have any chance to raise his passion. In his school, there was no room for soccer. The time passed, Steve was older and bigger, so he thought he “never was real fast.” After that, he decided to play baseball at the tackle position, but first, he had to lose weight as equal as weight limit. He began training strictly with the full-time schedule. Finally, he received a good result to deserve his

That was an accident; he just tied the rope around his neck and put it on around the bough. Unluckily, the rope was held his tightly. What a frivolous reason! After all, their result changed that Steve had suicided. In his funeral, “During the Mass, Boy Scouts presents gifts to God symbolizing Steve’s life. At Mike’s suggestion, one was a soccer ball.”
Through the death of Steve, we felt regrettable to him. He was a young man with the bright future ahead, but he still wanted to end his life. This article is as a warning of the number of young people, who had suicidal ideas, are increasing day by day because of stress, pressure, and alone. They feel that they are hard to breathe in this life. Therefore, the adults need to beside their children and to talk to them honestly. That maybe helps them to be more encouragement and motivation in
