In our ever changing world, the diversity of skin color and ethnic background too often defines who you are. The hate that grows from these differences highlights elections and world media headlines. When I was growing up I was told I had to pick whether I was black or white. For people who did not grow up in diverse backgrounds this may not make sense. Why would I care that I had to choose between black or white? All throughout my life, I was forced to deal with the color of my skin. To me as a young child, I could never understand why this mattered. Being told as a young girl that “niggers” don’t know how to play softball, hearing sideways comments about my dad’s skin color, all things that young kids should never have to hear. That is why this Reebok ad really connects with who I am. Reebok targets the problem of diversity in our country, chipping away at racial stereotypes and taking racism out of the question for young kids. When kids don’t have to be exposed to racist thoughts, they grow up without stereotypes and hateful thoughts based on race, religion, or ethnicity. Showing all people that being more open to diversity will help make the world a better place and bring some peace to the world, that is my vision, a vision shared by
