The State of the Union Address is where the President of the United States presents his plans for the next year in front of both the Senate and the House of Representatives. This year marked President Barack Obama’s eight and final State of the Union address. This State of the Union was very important for President Obama because it is a crucial year to set in stone his legacy. It is an election year, so how is President Obama going to end his second term as President of the United States? In his final State of the Union, President Obama emphasized many key topics from cancer research to the fight against ISIS. Even though it is his last year in office, President Barack Obama is continuing to fight for the things that he has pushed since his …show more content…
It has been one his goals to make the United States education system throughout his seven years as President. The eighth year will be no different as President Obama is still pushing many ideas to make our education system better. President Obama has made many positive strides in improving our education system. He stated in the address that, “we’ve increased early childhood education, lifted high school graduation rates to new highs, boosted graduates fields like engineering.” He acknowledges all of the successful things that they have accomplished during his presidency, but President Obama has a few more things he wants to accomplish during his last year in office. His main goal for this year is to eventually bring down the price of college and he is determined to do that. President Obama’s last remarks about his goals for the education system were, “Providing two years of community college at no cost for every responsible student is one of the best ways to do that, and I’m going to keep fighting to get that started this year.” I think that every student deserves to go to college if they are a responsible student. I do believe that his plan is the right was to go especially since it will help improve our economy. The only problem I see with free college is how expensive college is. I can see this being a problem financially because I believe that the U.S. …show more content…
He mentions about showing the world that we as a country are united and that Congress should pass a resolution for the authorized use of force against ISIS. The President then warns us not to turn all of our focus on ISIS and al Qaeda but to also look out in many parts of the world where terrorism could pop up. The President then gave his approach to counteracting terrorism and other crisis. The President made it clear that the crisis with ISIS and all the conflicts in the Middle East was that he wasn’t making rash decisions and react to the headlines. Also the first response to a challenge is to send in the military which would run the risk of getting drawn into unnecessary conflicts, and neglect the broader picture of what we need for a safer, more prosperous world. In my opinion this issue will not be politically feasible during President Obama’s last year. It is going to take much longer than a year for Congress to agree on tactics that lead to a war in the Middle East. Yes, this issue is financially feasible but think of all of the spending you are going to have to cut for other important issues. War is expensive and I believe that there are many more important issues to be focusing

Obama's speech overall focus on the Islam and how in america we are taking our anger on the Muslims who fight for our country because of the hate we have on the Islam. During the speech president Borock Obama was using language in his speech so that it does not just relate to just Islam's but to many cultures in the world. He was stating that we as a county should not fight against one another, that we should stick together in this time of crises. Also their something that stuck with me through the speech is when he said “Freedom is better than Fear”. He wants to fix this problem and end shootings so he convinces them with an inspirational quote. Obama references and quotes God and the scripture when saying “Do not loose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, inwardly, we are being renewed day by day” (2). He also questions his audience multiple times to make his point clearer. Questioning them if they have done enough, if they are meeting their obligations, and that as one, they all work together to love each other and reach peace.…

Community College Should Stay the Same I don’t agree with Barack Obama’s idea of having free community college. There is many points that you will have to consider when you think of free community college, such as the professors not have the same wage that they are earning as if now. There will be students that might not take the education seriously, their mind will be that since it’s free it will not really affect him/her but as it won’t affect their budget it would affect the university that they'll be attending after community college. I also believe there is no point on making community college free because it is not expensive at all compared to universities but if you think that the tuition you are going to be getting is expensive there…

One of the changes that they are trying to enforce is the idea of free college. In the article, it states that “Bills are pending to carry out President Obama’s America’s College Promise proposal to make community colleges free to responsible high school graduates.”…

Obama’s Farewell Address, was his final speech as President. Obama’s purpose of his Farewell Address was a way for him to say goodbye and to thank the American citizens but to also remind the citizens about all the improvements he made and how it should be continued. In order, to get his message across to the American citizens he used two of Aristotle’s modes of persuasion such as, pathos and logos. Obama used the genre pathos to invoke emotions from the audience in order for them to feel apart of the speech and he used logos to remind the citizens of his improvements and persuade them to continue his changes without his Presidency.…
